Accurate soil sampling is critical for reliable soil test results, which help determine:

• Soil health assessment
• Nutrient deficiencies
• Fertilization strategies

• Under Trees: Soil beneath trees may have irregular nutrient levels
• Near Irrigation Channels: Altered properties due to consistent moisture
• Field Boundaries: Often depleted of nutrients due to weed growth
• Under Fertilizer Piles: Shows skewed nutrient levels
• Animal Housing Areas: Elevated nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium levels
• Wet Soil: Can interfere with lab testing accuracy

Step 1: Identify Sampling Locations

Choose six spots in a zigzag pattern across your field. Mark these locations.

Step 2: Collect Soil Samples

1. Clear the top 2-3 inches of loose soil
2. Dig a V-shaped hole (9 inches deep)
3. Scrape soil from hole sides using wooden tools
4. Collect 1 kg soil from each location

Step 3: Mix and Prepare Final Sample

1. Mix all collected samples thoroughly
2. Divide soil into quarters and remove opposite sections
3. Continue mixing until 500g remain
4. Package final sample in clean, labeled bag

• Field location and GPS coordinates (if available)
• Sampling date
• Crop type/intended crop
• Your contact information
• Previous fertilizer applications (if any)
