AWKIRA by Pi Industries
AWKIRA is a highly effective pre-emergent herbicide designed for the management of resistant Phalaris minor in wheat crops. Its advanced formulation ensures season-long weed control, offering a hassle-free application compared to post-emergent herbicides. AWKIRA enhances crop safety and yield potential by reducing weed competition during the critical growth stages of the crop.
Key Features:
- Provides a one-shot solution for resistant Phalaris minor in wheat.
- Ensures season-long management of resistant Phalaris, offering extended control.
- Exhibits an excellent crop safety profile for wheat.
- Eliminates the complications of post-emergent herbicide application in standing crops.
- Helps crops express their full yield potential by reducing weed competition.
Recommended Application:
- Pre-emergent soil application using a knapsack sprayer fitted with a flat fan nozzle or a PI spray machine.
- Apply the herbicide with the recommended quantity of water to ensure thorough application.
- Ensure the field is well-prepared, uniform, and free from clods and residues of previous crops for optimal results.
Dosage Guidelines:
- Wheat: Use 150 g (127.5 g a.i.) per hectare for the control of Phalaris minor.
- Maize: For the control of Echinochloa crusgalli, Eleusine indica, and Phyllanthus niruri, use 150 g (127.5 g a.i.) per hectare.
- Soybean: For the control of Echinochloa colonum, Celosia argentia, Trianthema portulacastrum, Amaranthus viridis, and Digeria arvensis, use 150 g (127.5 g a.i.) per hectare.
Packaging:
Available in 60 gm packs.
Application Precautions:
- Use PPE (personal protective equipment) during application.
- Apply within 0-3 days of sowing using a flat fan nozzle or PI spray machine.
- Use a water volume of 200 litres per acre for optimal coverage.
- Ensure first irrigation occurs 21 days after sowing for all soil types.
- Avoid application in windy conditions and refrain from walking on wet fields after irrigation to prevent weed germination from disturbed soil.
- Avoid using metallic utensils when preparing the stock solution.
- Do not apply AWKIRA as a sand mix or fertilizer mix.
Mode of Action:
Pyroxasulfone reduces the biosynthesis of very long chain fatty acids (VLCFAs), inhibiting the elongation steps catalyzed by VLCFA elongases. This mechanism prevents weed growth and ensures effective control of target weeds.
Danger Level:
AWKIRA is classified as moderately toxic with a blue triangle hazard label. The cautionary word "Danger" is displayed on the label. Always handle with care and follow safety guidelines.
Antidote:
No specific antidote is known. Treat symptomatically in case of accidental exposure.
